We are looking for a Youth Director to lead the Middle School and High School youth programs. This is a paid position (and can be set up as an internship). We desire a committed, growing Christian who has completed at least their first year of college. They will be responsible for planning and facilitating weekly Wednesday night discussion and activities, leading class on Sunday morning, and organizing events. An interview will be conducted if qualifications meet the needs of the church.
The Praise Band is looking for a Christian lead vocalist to join in playing contemporary and traditional worship music. Must have a heart for worship, familiarity with contemporary worship songs, ability to learn new melodies quickly, and must fit in well with the personality and unity of the band. Worship leading experience a plus. Compensation provided for both rehearsal (Saturday morning) and Sunday morning service. An interview and audition will be conducted if qualifications meet the needs of the church. Contact Steve Cope if interested.
We will be taking Easter flower orders through Sunday, March 18 to be used on Easter Sunday to make our Victory Cross. Available are tulips ($8.00), daffodils ($10.00), Easter lilies ($9.50) and hyacinths ($8.00). You may place your order in the offering plate or give to Carol Warner. The flowers will be available for you to take home after our Easter worship service.
Throughout the month of March, we will be collecting for America for Christ Offering 2012. The money collected from this offering helps provide grants and resources to local ministries throughout the US.
A group is planning to attend the Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Quartet Concert at 7:00 pm, March 24 at the Palace Theater. Tickets are $26.45. Sign up in the lobby by March 11 if you are interested. Carpooling will be available to help with the parking. See Carol Warner for info.
After the second service at 12:00 we will have a light lunch followed by a meeting to keep the congregation informed of events, activities, work being done, opportunities, and the status of the church. Pastor Jon and each Team Leader will provide a short report, and there will be a time for discussion. Please plan to attend and sign up in the lobby for the luncheon.
Pastor Jon is planning on taking groups on two mission trips: April 15-21 to Nashville and August 5-11 to New Orleans. Let Pastor Jon know if you are interested in either of these opportunities.
During the month of February we will continue to collect personal hygiene items for the Domestic Violence Shelter and the Prison Reentering Program. Items can be placed in the basket in the lobby. Items needed are: toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash, shampoo, hair spray, hand soap, contact solution, hair brushes, deodorant, tissues, gallon-size zip-lock bags, paper towels, feminine products, shaving cream, razors, hair accessories (barrettes, bands), hand and body lotion.
Get your team of 4-8 people together and get ready to participate in the Trivia Challenge! The evening will start with a pot luck supper at 6:00 pm (bring a dish to share) and the Trivia Contest follows. Sign up in the lobby.
Our annual Super Bowl Sunday Flag Football game will take place on the front lawn of the church at 3:00 pm - pray for snow! Open to anyone, ages 12 and up. The Super Bowl Party will follow at 6:00 at the home of Lori Sundbury. Bring a dish to share and a 2-liter bottle of something to drink. Sign up in the lobby.
