Christmas is a time of year when we are reminded to think beyond ourselves. Just as we celebrate God’s gift to us of His Son and Jesus’ gift of redemption on the cross, please prayerfully consider how your gifts can go to help reach the world for Christ. This Christmas, we are asking our church family to give generously to our Christmas offering above and beyond their normal tithes and weekly offerings.
As a church, we give 10% of all undesignated church offering income to missions, here and around the world. This means that we need to take in a little bit more in order to achieve this wonderful outreach as well as meet all of our normal church expenses. (Christmas is also a good time to “catch up” on your tithes and giving if you missed a few Sundays this year.)
We will be collecting this offering on Sunday, December 22 and Sunday, December 29 - will you help?
A special Thanksgiving offering will be received on Sunday, November 24. These funds will be used for Youth Programming. Prayerfully consider what your gift will be, and give thanks for the many blessings that God has given you.
We are collecting non-perishable food for the Stark County Hunger task Force. Bring it to the church and place them in the sanctuary through November 17th.
Just a reminder that Sunday November 3, we will be celebrating with just one worship service at 11:00 a.m. (We will still have Sunday School for all ages at 10:00.)
The combined service is so that we can celebrate as one body of Christ in the baptisms of Leah, Shelby, and Lydia! Please come and support them in their decision to follow Christ.
We will also be celebrating communion, remembering Christ's sacrifice for our salvation. Since it is the first Sunday of the month, we will be receiving donations for the Benevolence Fund (formerly the Deacon's Fund), to assist those with urgent needs in our congregation and our community.
Also, this Sunday will be the one chance to vote to break the tie between the top two fabrics/colors for the pews and carpet as we get ready to remodel the sanctuary. This is a new vote - essentially a runoff - to get the congregation's input for the colors that will decorate our sanctuary for many years to come. (So if you voted once before, you will need to vote again.) Please prayerfully consider your choices and come and give your opinion following the service. (If you are unable to attend this Sunday, please contact Carol Warner to arrange to cast your vote. All votes must be complete by Wednesday, November 6.)
Call your friends and mark your calendars for Saturday, October 5th! Free and open to the community – invite your friends and neighbors for a fun Fall evening of fellowship and great music. A favorite in the Canton-Akron music scene, the Joe Vitale Jr. Band blends classic and modern rock with some industrial influences (and even a worship song or two). Recording artist Joe Jr. cut his musical teeth touring with Joe Walsh, The Stephen Stills Blues Band, and Crosby Stills and Nash. Although most of Joe’s music is secular, his personal faith in Jesus Christ and Biblical principles are woven throughout. (Find out more information at www.joevitalejr.com.)
A great way to kick off Fall – round up some friends, enjoy some brisk weather and settle in around the fire for some great music. You can’t have any more fun for free!
(In the case of rain, the bonfire will be cancelled, but the Joe Vitale Band will still provide a free live concert in the church sanctuary at )
