Wednesday Night Programming Resumes and Christmas Un-Decorating On January 5

Following the fellowship dinner on Wednesday, January 5, join the ladies for a new Beth Moore study, jump into the men’s study of C. S. Lewis’s “Mere Christianity”, or just stick around and lend a hand with “un-decorating” the sanctuary and lobby. We will need a few hands to take down the greenery and put it away for next year. The kid’s SOS group will be helping to un-decorate the Fellowship Hall also that night.

Purpose and Direction of Trinity Re-Evaluated

All of the Team Leaders have met several times to consider what Trinity’s preferred future should look like (what our purpose and goal are to be), and to work on plans for guiding Trinity as we move forward. The first steps were to re-evaluate our Vision and Mission statements to be sure that they clearly stated where we are going as a church. Every task, event, or program that each Team considers will be measured against the Vision and should be integral to the execution of the plan to achieve the Vision.

Watoto Children's Choir Program

Join us Friday, December 17 for an amazing evening! You will be awed and inspired by the enthusiasm and musical talents of these children from Kampala, Uganda, Africa. You will experience an evening of music, energy and hope through a soulful blend of native African rhythms, contemporary gospel music, and ethnic dances. Be sure to invite your friends and neighbors - it'll be an evening you will not want to miss. There is no admission fee, but a free-will offering will be taken to help support their trip and the ministries in Africa.

45th Anniversary Sunday

We will have a combined worship service on October 3 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the 45th Anniversary of Trinity Baptist Church. We will take a look back at the history of Trinity, and will look forward to the future as well. A luncheon will follow. Please plan to be a part of this important event in the life of our church. Please note: There will be no Sunday School that day.

Installation Service Planned for Pastor Lobos

We will have a combined worship service on September 19 at 10:30 a.m. to celebrate the installation of Pastor Jon Lobos as the Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. We will affirm God’s calling of Pastor Jon, confirm his pastoral leadership, and celebrate the covenant between Trinity, Pastor Jon, the congregation, and the association of American Baptist Churches. A picnic pot luck lunch will follow. Please plan to be a part of this important event in the life of our church. Please note: There will be no Sunday School that day.

Team Leaders Meeting

A meeting of Pastor Jon, the Leadership Team, and all Team Leaders is planned for Tuesday, September 14, at 6:30 p.m. We will be discussing the vision and goals of the church and opportunities to coordinate the efforts of all of the Teams to make or ministry more effective. Pastor Jon will give his views also, so that everyone has an understanding of where we are going so we can all head down the same road together.

Office Volunteers

Anyone who may have a few hours available weekdays is encouraged to volunteer to help out in the church office answering the telephone, making copies, and performing other light office duties. We are looking to start out staffing the mornings on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, but would be thankful for help at any other time you may be available. A rotating schedule will be set up so that the responsibilities will be spread out as much as possible.

Neighborhood Invitations

Door hanger invitations are available in the lobby for each of you to take and distribute in your neighborhood, inviting folks to come and meet our new Pastor and to see what our church fellowship is all about. Also, if you can spend an hour helping to distribute some in the neighborhoods around the church, please see Steve Cope for additional hangers and the streets that still need to be canvassed. It is great exercise and a chance to give the church some good visibility.

Trinity Calls Pastor Jon Lobos

During the weekend of June 26th & 27th, the Search Committee hosted a Candidate Weekend for Pastor Jon Lobos, the recommended candidate for the position of Senior Pastor, and his wife Merrilee. Both met many of you at the events during the weekend that included a breakfast, a congregational dinner and a combined worship service. Jon and Merrilee commented on how welcomed they felt, and how the members of Trinity made them feel comfortable and engaged them in conversation during every event.

Following the worship service, a Business Meeting was conducted to vote on calling Jon to be our Pastor. The vote was UNANIMOUS to call Pastor Jon Lobos as the next Senior Pastor of Trinity Baptist Church. Pastor Jon graciously accepted the offer, and his first Sunday with us will be August 22nd.
