Youth Group Fundraiser

Submitted by Steve Cope on Wed, 12/05/2007 - 2:36pm.
This month the Youth are getting ready to start "fishing" people's yards! This is how it works: for $10 you can have the fish sent to someone's house and staked in their front yard. Then, it costs $10 for that person to have the Youth remove the fish from their yard and sent to someone else. For $20, you can purchase "insurance" if you do not want fish in your yard at all. So watch out for the fish - they will be coming soon!

2007 Mission Trip

Submitted by Steve Cope on Wed, 07/25/2007 - 1:35pm.
Our Youth group and adult chaperones combined with the group from St. Jacob's Lutheran Church and had a great time on our mission trip to the TEAMeffort work camp in Copperhill, Tennessee (in the Appalachian Mountains). We worked with TEAMeffort counselors Joe and Jordan to repair Ms. Lois' and her 91-year-old mother's house in Murphy, North Carolina. The funds were used at Vanga Hospital in the Congo to build a veranda and to enlarge the chapel.

Race Track Ministry

Submitted by Steve Cope on Wed, 12/05/2007 - 5:22pm.
Did you know you can still find babies in stables? When Trinity's Helping Hands Ministries visited Thistledown Race Track, they saw the cutest infant whose father was a jockey. Many of the 800 people working "behind the track" live in dormitory rooms or very small rooms above the stables. When children are in the family, they have to move to a nearby trailer park. Helping Hands visited with Rev. Vincent Harris, the American Baptist Missionary whose work at the track encompasses many more things than just the spiritual parts of the lives of those he serves.

We had a great experience with the Watoto Children's Choir again on February 5, 2008! Although the Watoto Choir generally does not visit the same location more than once, we were blessed to host them for a third time! It was a great evening of music, energy and hope.
