Coronavirus concerns

**UPDATE:  MARCH 19, 2020**
After prayerful consideration and multiple discussions, I have decided to cancel our in-person Sunday morning church services and most church activities for at least the next two weeks. Please watch our Facebook page
(https://www.facebook.com/TrinityBaptistChurchNorthCanton/) for more up-to-date information.

I would like to address what so many of us are watching in the news. By this time, many of you are tired of hearing all of the media reports about the coronavirus COVID-19. I know I am! But COVID-19 continues to make an impact in the world, our nation, even the state of Ohio and Stark County; not just through the infections, but by the worry and anxiety it may be causing. Sporting events, school concerts, in-person college classes, the Home and Garden Show, and even our own ABC/Ohio Leadership Conference scheduled for the end of the month have been canceled.

Whether or not you believe that the media is over-reacting or just being prudent and “better safe than sorry,” at Trinity Baptist Church your safety and your health are very important to us. While we are NOT canceling any services or events as of today, March 12, we encourage everyone to use safe health practices (not just now, but all the time!). We are a very warm congregation, usually greeting each other with a smile and a handshake or a hug. For the time being, how about a smile and a wave or an elbow-bump? Also, we normally have hand sanitizer located in the restrooms and at the back of the sanctuary, and we encourage you to take advantage of it. The reason that we are even addressing this is because we want you to feel safe at Trinity Baptist Church.

I know so many people right now are stricken with fear, worry, and anxiety. I want to remind you that “God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7) The Church of Jesus Christ should be a place that is speaking HOPE in the midst of storms. As the people of Trinity Baptist Church, we will continue to pray for God to bring about solutions to this illness, we will pray for the leaders that are making decisions, and we will pray for God to bring about good out of this situation.

You and your family need to use discernment regarding your health. We here at Trinity stand ready to support each of our family members in any way that we can to help you get through this trying time.
