2007 Mission Trip

Our Youth group and adult chaperones combined with the group from St. Jacob's Lutheran Church and had a great time on our mission trip to the TEAMeffort work camp in Copperhill, Tennessee (in the Appalachian Mountains). We worked with TEAMeffort counselors Joe and Jordan to repair Ms. Lois' and her 91-year-old mother's house in Murphy, North Carolina. We primed and painted her house and shed, repaired the roofing, cleared a small "landslide" and built a cement block retaining wall, replaced rotted house siding, built a roof over her doorway, built a wolf house (for Ms. Lois' pet wolf Wiley!), built storage shelving, replaced a portion of the porch ceiling, did landscaping and built a garden bench, hung a wooden swing, planted flowers, hauled away mounds of trash and started pouring a cement pad for her entranceway. We also found time for whitewater rafting, horseback riding, the high ropes course, and mountain biking. There were over 300 campers that week reaching out to the community in Christ's name. Photos from the trip are going up on our Gallery, and all "shareholders" are invited to the upcoming appreciation dinner to hear firsthand about our experience. We are Christ's hands and feet in this world!
