Christmas Offering

We have an opportunity for a special Christmas/End-of-Year Offering on Sunday, December 30. As you plan your gift-giving budget, be sure to include a line for your church family too. God gave us the ultimate gift of His Son, Jesus Christ. So that others may come to know Jesus, your gift to His church will enable His ministries to continue.

Picnic Pavilion Approved

UPDATE:

Leadership approved contracting with Norhart Builders of North Canton to build a 32' X 48" pavilion. Construction should begin in mid-December, and the concrete will be poured in the spring.

The City of North Canton has approved our plans to build a picnic pavilion on the north side of the church property (between the former parsonage and the play area). This will give us a place to put all of the newly-constructed picnic tables, and to hold church events and outdoor worship services. A bit of ground-moving will be taking place to flatten out the area, so be on the lookout for the heavy machinery. The city also approved the proposal to build a cement pad for the dumpster and a fence enclosure to conceal it. Thanks to Ralph Kroll for spear-heading this effort.

Congratulations to Stephanie Cope!

Stephanie Cope, vocalist with our Praise Team, has been selected to participate with "The West Virginians", the 12-member premier vocal touring ensemble of Alderson-Broaddus College in Philippi, West Virginia. She was one of only four 2008-2009 freshmen offered a position, and the only freshman girl. The performance contract includes full tuition for the academic year. Members are selected based on their talents as musicians, their ability to present the wide variety of musical literature required by this group, their moral character, and their capacity to perform within the mission of the ensemble.

Stephanie was selected after two rigorous auditions before the entire faculty of the Music Department, with vocal as her primary instrument, and alto saxophone and guitar as secondary instruments, which will be utilized in various capacities in both "The West Virginians" and other performing groups.

"The West Virginians" has consistently been designated "Official Ambassadors for the state of West Virginia" by the Governor, and has had occasion to travel outside of the United States to countries including Canada, Puerto Rico, India, and Thailand. "The West Virginians" regularly produce recordings, and have had the opportunity to do televised performances.

Alderson-Broaddus is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches, USA, and the West Virginia Baptist Convention. For more information, visit http://www.ab.edu/.

Youth Group Fundraiser

This month the Youth are getting ready to start "fishing" people's yards! This is how it works: for $10 you can have the fish sent to someone's house and staked in their front yard. Then, it costs $10 for that person to have the Youth remove the fish from their yard and sent to someone else. For $20, you can purchase "insurance" if you do not want fish in your yard at all. So watch out for the fish - they will be coming soon!
